Campaign Update - Week of 6/7/2010

No More Executions!
It is unfortunate that there was NO movement of the moratorium bills in the Missouri Legislature this past session. Had we been successful, we would not be hearing mumblings about who may be facing an execution date. The abolition movement must get bigger and bolder if we are serious about putting Missouri executions in the dustbin of history.

Clemency Petitioning
We remind people that we must continue our petitioning efforts even as the Special Master does his review of the case. It helps us to get Reggie’s story to people and it also documents the number of people who support Governor Nixon doing his own review of the case.

We appreciated the efforts of our petition team who covered the 4-day African Arts Festival in the park. We plan to give a count on our overall signature count in next week’s campaign update. If you collected any signatures, please get your petitions in ASAP.

Oh yes, Reggie’s petition will be at the US Social Forum in Detroit!
